Microsoft plan to bring ERP to the cloud

An interesting article from Mary Jo Foley about Microsoft’s plans on released their Dynamic ERP products to the cloud can be found here

It  mentions some very interesting points about the cloud policy from Microsoft regarding the ERP products.  The main theme of the article is Microsoft are definitely going to put these products in the cloud but isn’t going to pressure customers to use it.

I was also interested to read Microsoft Dynamic ERP products will be using the same update system as the CRM product which is two major releases a year.  This is a definite acceleration of enhancements from Microsoft and will make working Dynamics NAV even more interesting.

Metaphorix believe to take advantage of these improvements it’s important to have a great support desk, skilled NAV consultants and a great working relationship with their clients.

Metaphorix also believe in keeping up to date with any new functionality and version of NAV so we will be able to use the functionality effectively and produce the best solutions for a our customers.

NAV 7 Statement of Direction has been updated

NAV 7 is slowly getting nearer and more details are starting to come to light.

The blogger Waldo has written an excellent blog on the original NAV statement of direction which you can read here

He has also highlighted some of the highlights of the updated statement of direction and you can read all 19 pages of it if you are a Microsoft partner by clicking here.

Waldo does a great job of summarising and highlighting the new functionality in NAV 7 and one of the first things which caught my eye was looking at the road map where Microsoft are planning to release a major new release every year until with NAV 9 being released in 2014.  Considering the time it has taken for NAV 7 to be released this is quite a change of pace from Microsoft who seem to be investing in their Dynamics product range in a big way.

I will point you in the direction of Waldo’s blog which highlights the new functionality

the other important factor is the release date of NAV 7, it’s going to be release September/October 2012, which will be here sooner than we know it.

First of all, it states the release date, being: September/October of 2012.
