Microsoft plan to bring ERP to the cloud

An interesting article from Mary Jo Foley about Microsoft’s plans on released their Dynamic ERP products to the cloud can be found here

It  mentions some very interesting points about the cloud policy from Microsoft regarding the ERP products.  The main theme of the article is Microsoft are definitely going to put these products in the cloud but isn’t going to pressure customers to use it.

I was also interested to read Microsoft Dynamic ERP products will be using the same update system as the CRM product which is two major releases a year.  This is a definite acceleration of enhancements from Microsoft and will make working Dynamics NAV even more interesting.

Metaphorix believe to take advantage of these improvements it’s important to have a great support desk, skilled NAV consultants and a great working relationship with their clients.

Metaphorix also believe in keeping up to date with any new functionality and version of NAV so we will be able to use the functionality effectively and produce the best solutions for a our customers.

Metaphorix opens European office

October saw Metaphorix make it’s first move into Europe with the opening of it’s European office.

This is how a salesman would cover the topic when what has really happen is one of talented Microsoft Dynamics NAV developers has relocated to Holland.

With the power of Lync and working from home (in Holland) he is still working for Metaphorix.

Cannot sign in to Lync – problem acquiring a personal certificate

I’m sure there are lots of Microsoft resellers who have moved to to office 365 and now suddenly have Lync on your desktops.

Metaphorix are now activily using Lync to communicate with workers working from home, group conference calls and quick messages rather than sending emails.  I will stress that if the person is in the building we do prefer to get up off our desks and talk face to face.

today I got an error with Lync saying it couldn’t acquire a personal certificate and thus couldn’t sign in.

Here are some instructions to resolve this problem

  1. Kill communicator in the Task manager
  2. Go to C:\Users\hosk\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator (substitute your username in place of hosk)
  3. Open the sub folder sip_<username>@<companyname<.onmicrosoft.com (again replace <username> with your own userid).  An example of mine was sip_hosk@metaphorix.onmicrosoft.com
  4. Delete the file EndpointConfiguration.cache
  5. Restart Lync from the program list / start button
