 In this edition we would like to let you know about the next ‘Back-to-Basics’ educational seminars we will be holding at our Coleshill offices, Inventory Costing and Inventory Planning

The Inventory Costing seminar will be held on Tuesday 19th June and the Inventory Planning seminar on Tuesday 17th July and they will run for 2 ½ hours, minimising the time taken from your busy day and allowing you to get back to your office later in the day, if required.

The seminars are open to all customers and are primarily aimed at Dynamics NAV users within your organisation.  We anticipate that these free education session will prove to be really popular and so we will need to restrict attendance to 2 people per customer.

Metaphorically Speaking – Edition 62 – Important Change to the Pricing for Microsoft Dynamics NAV User Licences and Granules

In this edition we want to let you know about an important and imminent change to the pricing for Microsoft Dynamics NAV user licences and granules. 

From 1 July, the cost of buying NAV will rise by around 20%.  Microsoft will publish prices in due course and we will provide these to you, but for now we would like to give you more about the ‘why’ rather than the ‘what’.

Essentially Microsoft has identified a major risk in its trading model – the fluctuation in exchange rates across the Euro-zone.  Most global software companies have one master price list in their home currency and reset price lists in other currencies every year or even every quarter using then-current exchange rates.

Microsoft has always taken a different approach, having set €, £ and other prices in 2001 they have continued to use the same exchange rate ever since.

From 1 July, Microsoft will reset Swiss Franc and Pounds Sterling prices to align with € prices, based on exchange rates at the time.  Microsoft will keep the prices aligned in the future by adjusting for subsequent exchange rate movements.

The immediate effect is that £ prices will rise by about 20%, Swiss Franc prices will fall by the same amount (subject of course to what happens in the currency markets between now and then).

In the short term what this means is that if you are planning to buy users then time is of the essence – after June you will pay a one-off higher fee for the licence and a perpetually higher fee for annual support.  For a balanced view of the changes and their effects please see the blog entry below – an article we feel fairly describes the position.

Metaphorically Speaking – Edition 59 – Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) Prize Draw

We would like to thank all of you who completed the Microsoft Customer Service Survey (CSAT), it is very important to get your feedback and your help is much appreciated. The closing date has now passed and, as promised, we carried out our prize draw for the Amazon Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device.

The prize draw winner is Jamie Best from Barton Storage Systems Ltd. Congratulations to Jamie.  Commiserations to all who did the survey but didn’t win.

Overall the results from the survey have been very positive but we are aware there is room for improvement. We will endeavour to take action on all the comments made and to notify you all of the results in a later edition of Metaphorically Speaking.

We will be sending out the survey twice a year, so if you didn’t have time to complete it this time round, we hope you will be able to do so later in the year.

Many of you may remember that back in November 2011 we ran our first very successful ‘Back-to-Basics’ seminar. In this edition we would like to let you know about the next educational seminar we will be holding at our Coleshill offices, Jet Reports Overview.

Many of you use the Microsoft accredited add-on for reporting via Excel called Jet Reports. Even if you are not using Jet Reports you may be interested in finding out about it, or if it is already installed you may wish to learn how you can improve your use of Jet Reports.  

The seminar will be held on 9th May, 2012 and will run for 2 ½ hours, minimising the time taken from your busy day and allowing you to get back to your office later in the day, if required.

Metaphorically Speaking – Edition 56 – Customer Support Process

In this edition of Metaphorically Speaking we would like to remind you about our support processes and how our Customer Support Team operate.

Many of you are very familiar with our support process at Metaphorix but the following key points will help to ensure the logging and tracking of support calls is efficiently handled.

  1. Your call is logged and allocated a unique ‘NC’ log number.  This log number will be used to reference the call throughout its lifecycle. Where possible, always email us in the first instant so that we can log the exact nature of the call.
  2. Always use the unique NC reference in all communication with the support team, and ensure you include this reference in the subject header of your email. This will ensure we are giving you the right information and are dealing with your call efficiently. 
  3. Always use the specification document for modifications if this has been sent to you by the Customer Support Team. This ensures we develop to an agreed specification.
  4. Always load FOBs to you test system first and conduct second line testing to ensure you are happy with the modification delivered
  5. Inform the Customer Support Team when any objects have been loaded to your live database.
  6. ALWAYS LOAD OBJECTS IN THE CORRECT SEQUENCE TO AVOID OBJECT CONFLICTS
  7. Inform the Customer Support Team when a support call can be closed.
  8. Always ensure you commence your support call directly with the Support department. If you contact others in the company outside of the Customer Support Team you will not automatically receive an NC reference and the call will not be logged directly onto our system.
